Quality-of-Life Consultations

Many families aren’t sure when it’s time. A quality-of-life visit gives you time with your veterinarian to talk through your pet’s comfort, appetite, mobility, and pain. Sometimes there are still treatment options that can give good days back. Sometimes the kindest choice is to let your pet go. Either way, we’ll help you understand where things stand so you don’t have to decide alone.

Signs a pet’s quality of life may be declining include:

  • Pain that medication no longer controls
  • Not eating or drinking
  • Trouble breathing
  • Unable to stand or get around without help
  • No longer interested in family, toys, or favorite things
  • More bad days than good days

Pet Euthanasia at Our Houston Hospital

Euthanasia appointments take place at our hospital at 2348 Rice Blvd. We recommend calling ahead so we can schedule time for your family and have paperwork ready in advance, so you can focus on your pet.

Your veterinarian will explain each step before it happens. Family members are welcome to stay with their pet. The process is gentle and is designed to prevent pain and distress.

Pet Cremation Services

We arrange cremation through a trusted local partner. Families can choose:

  • Private cremation: your pet is cremated individually and the ashes are returned to you.
  • Communal cremation: your pet is cremated with other pets and the ashes are not returned.

Our team will go over these options with you and handle the arrangements.

Coping with Pet Loss

Grief after losing a pet is real and normal. Give yourself time, and lean on friends and family who understand what your pet meant to you. Children and other pets in the home may grieve too. If you have questions after your pet has passed, our team is always here to talk.
